Prairie Visions was established in 1990 to preserve the area's natural and historic resources while creating a diverse, sustainable economy based on agriculture, tourism, and small business. Prairie Visions is a cooperative venture of four cities in Mower County, Minnesota, including Adams, LeRoy, Rose Creek, and Taopi. The purpose is to cooperate in promoting and improving this area of Mower County which has common goals and interests and an attitude that realizes by working together more can be accomplished than having each city go on its own.
Shooting Star Trail is comprised of 30 miles of 'Remnant Tall Grass Prairie' and native wildflowers along MN 56 from I-90 near Austin MN southeast through the towns of Rose Creek, Adams and Taopi; through Lake Louise State Park near the MN-IA state line; and ending at the eastern trail head in LeRoy, MN. The Shooting Star Trail is supported by Prairie Visions.
Shooting Star Scenic Byway was one of the first scenic byways established in Minnesota. In an easy 30 mile drive you can see the last remnants of the once bountiful prairies that covered the land only 150 years ago. This is one of the few places left to experience a "Little House on the Prairie" setting of head tall grasses and lovely wildflowers. |
